One of my students gave this to me as an end of the year gift. His mom is a first grade teacher at my school and she reads my blogs. I had just done a post on pressing leaves and flowers with my kids, when she stumbled upon this flower press for sale. My usual process for pressing leaves and flowers involves an old Yellow Pages phone book. (Those books are getting harder and harder to come by these days.) So, when I pulled this fancy flower press out of the gift bag, I think I squealed with joy!
I was really excited to try it out, but decided to wait until my latest purchase arrived from Amazon.
Blossom Buddies arrived on my front porch today!
One of my favorite activities in the fall is taking a leaf walk and then using the pressed leaves to create beautiful artwork. I always use the book called Look What I Did With A Leaf.
Blossom Buddies is like a Springtime version of Look What I Did With A Leaf! So, we spent some time collecting and pressing flowers in the afternoon.
My daughter was thrilled to find these lillies in our backyard. She wanted to make the little girl in the pink tutu, from the book. When she spotted the lillies in the backyard she said, “I never noticed those before. What are they called?” (See, even kindergarteners can make text to world connections!)
We spent about an hour collecting flowers, pressing them in the new flower press, and making creations from the book.
Happy flower collecting and thanks to my friends who gave me my first real flower press!
Here are a few linky parties I like to participate in.
