Our babies are making the change!  This whole process still amazes me.  I know the life cycle.  I’ve seen it more times than I can count, and I’m full of awe and wonder each time I see it.  If you look closely, you can see there are still two caterpillars crawling around, one hanging upside down, and two that are in the chrysalis stage. I love it when you can see multiple stages at the same time.

This is one of those things you can read about, but doesn’t seem possible until you see it in real life.

Our butterflies are Painted Lady butterflies, which we have read about in several books.  After reading Gail Gibbons’ book on Monarch butterflies, the kids were able to see and discuss similarities and differences.  I love to see kids making so many connections.  They made connections between texts as well as connections to their real-life experience with raising caterpillars and releasing them as butterflies.

I’ll keep you updated on the ch…ch…ch…changes!
