I love this Sight Word Literacy Center that I bought from Lakeshore Learning.
I will admit, it was a little spendy. It was $80. It’s a lot of money for an activity center that helps practice simple sight words. We bought this set several years ago, when my son was in first grade. I had a toddler running around my house too, and I just didn’t have the time or energy to make these games myself. In addition, I knew that I would be able to use this with my daughter when she was older. I also knew that when they both outgrew this set, I could use it in my kindergarten classroom. There. Justified.
It has tons of different activities, flip books, letters, word cards, and word tiles. My daughter enjoys pulling this out and “playing school” on her own. In my kindergarten class, we use this as a center and have pairs of kids choose an activity they’d like to work on. My kindergarten students need a little more parent/teacher support. My daughter, a first grader, can do this on her own. Friends, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lakeshore Learning Center. It has so many wonderful activities for any concept you are working on with your kids at home. Here is a link to many of their sight word games and activities. If you have young kids, who are learning to read, I highly suggest checking out a few of these games and activities. When your kids outgrow them, donate them to your child’s school. Their teachers will thank you!
Have fun playing with your kids!
