One of the best things about teaching young kids is teaching literacy. I absolutely love teaching reading and writing. It’s amazing to watch a child grow into a reader right before your eyes.
Right now, in kindergarten, we are working our way through a genre study of wordless books. Wordless books present us with a wide range of opportunities for language and literacy development. They help children increase conversation skills, comprehension, and higher order thinking skills.
Even at a young age, kids realize that authors and illustrators tell stories through words and pictures. Wordless books help beginning readers feel like readers.
I’ve been pinning many of my favorite wordless books. If you are not already pinning on Pinterest, stop what you are doing and go there now!
