The Easter Egg by Jan Brett

I can’t believe that Easter is just around the corner!  It’s just barely starting to feel like Spring and the Easter Bunny is ready with deliveries.  Well, if you are like me, then you are embracing the warmer temperatures, blooming flowers, and outdoor time with all your might!  I’m also embracing my Springtime books and The Easter Egg, by Jan Brett, is one of my favorites!

The Easter Egg, by Jan Brett

I love Jan Brett.  (Find me a teacher who doesn’t!)  I love how kid- friendly her books are and the special elements she adds to her illustrations.

Pussywillows

We especially love her use of pussywillows in the border of her illustrations in The Easter Egg because we have pussywillows in our classroom right now.  The kids in my kindergarten class LOVE her peek-a-boo windows.  I also really love her website.  She is such an inspiration to children as authors and illustrators.  Today, before reading The Easter Egg, we watched a video about how she came up with the idea for her story and the animals she used for inspiration in her illustrations.

I highly recommend buying this book or checking it out from the library, but here is a good online version.

Happy reading and Happy Easter!
